Margo van de Linde
- DOTE-Mezrab Night
Open Mic DOTE-Mezrab Night Special
During Homegrown Politics Mezrab host, theater maker and performer Margo van de Linde takes the audience on a journey in three stages revolving around the question ‘How is the personal political?’ By inviting several guests to share with us the words, they have written based on their own questions surrounding identity, culture, gender or race. Words that do not represent dominant systems, but instead give voice to the one, to the human. By this, we look at the subversion that comes from intimacy, from transparency, from the willingness to stand alone and speak.
The evening begins with the performance Three Seconds by Mayar Alexan and Hoor Malas, and opens out into a selection of storytelling and performance, using the spoken word as a means for claiming one’s identity. Eventually, the audience will be asked to reflect on what they have created in order for the final act to be created – a collaborative work as spoken by one voice.
DOTE finds the perfect partner in Mezrab to explore and experience the need for alternative internships, engaged communities, various audiences and for emphasizing the politics of storytelling, performance and collective experience.
Each DOTE – Mezrab night is based on themes within the festival and explored through performances, storytelling and music. A program bringing together local performers and festival performers with spectators who would like to jam or use the open mic.
